Petals from California - an oil painting from one of the several rose bushes in my garden. I began this painting in plein air and finished it in my studio over the course of the following month. The original rose is the palest of yellows, but I chose to make this special rose that I abstracted, the sacred color of turquoise, which for me symbolizes calm and emotional balance, good fortune, and spiritual grounding.
